Wanna be part of Team DS in 2015??

Yep we are on the ball and looking at next years sponsorship applications over the next 3 weeks, so if cleaning your riding Swag is your bag and you want to join the Team DS bunch of misfits now is the time to whack over an email application.

As we already have an amazing crew of riders, racers and drivers there is only limited packages available in certain sports, as well as a number of support packages spanning the whole range but we would love to hear from you as we are a friendly bunch here and a great email could twist our arm to add you to the team.

We pride our members on being a different breed.  We love a podium as much as the next Duck, but that's just one part of it, as enjoying what you do, having fun with it, respecting your rivals and reveling
in the challenge to us is what its all about.

With all of the above in mind, hitting us with an email about winning this and that, I'm the don, yadda, yadda, yadda is not gonna appeal.  Show us a bit of personality, make us laugh and yeah, hit us with some of you goals and riding achievements but don't go overboard with it.  Ah yeah don't forget to tell us how you will promote Duck Smart as we love a bit of that....

Anyway over to you, and we look forward to hearing from yer so fire over an email in whatever style you think will give us a grin and a kick to beaduck@ducksmart.co.uk

Take 2, the MXGP Treatment winners weekend!!

Ding Ding round 2 and all that, the MXGP Treatment winners weekend took place on the legendary slopes of the Asham Woods circuit near Frome which on memorable occasions in the past had been host to many an MX great.

This time round it was the Final round of the British Evo Series alongside the Sidecar Clubmans champs and the chance for our comp winner Martin Foster to get on the track and put pay to the gremlins which halted his winners weekend after a practice malfunction that couldn't be rectified last time round.

With the well wishing, back slapping and handing over of the race kit, pit board, and other goodies out of the way last time round this time it was down to business & the serious stuff of the racing.   C'mon can you imagine that from us??  Nay chance, full on banter, laughs and some old school male bonding was the order of the weekend, ah yeah and Martin surpassed his half a lap of practice last time and hit home with a full 3 laps and then 3 races to follow.

Team mechanic Steve (who has known and been going to MX with Martin since they were at college) used his pit board to full advantage and as well as some well informed motivational snippets, there was also a customary amount of MX cliches and witty remarks aplenty for good measure.

On board his immaculate 1989 YZ125 Martin looked trick in his Thor race kit (thanks Madison), and we kept his bike looking tip top throughout without water, using our Smart N Ezee Waterless Cleaner & polish , Mud Slider for under the mudguards and some Kit Clean on his boots.

With the suitably retro and legendary Oil brand, Bel-Ray (cheers Rapid) on board as a partner the machine was prepped and singing like a 2 smoker banshee should when racing a flat out on an old school beast of a track, and Martin was greeted by whoops & hollers from Team Duck on each lap.  (I know your gonna ask this but nope there wasn't any girls on this occasion, they were booked and on their way for the first time but couldn't make it for attempt number 2).

So with two weekend's to savour did the comp winner Martin enjoy his prize?  Well your gonna have to wait a little bit until the vid comes out, but yep we reckon he did, and one things for sure we did and without doubt Martin and his best mate Steve were worthy winners of the competition and now classed as good friends rather than acquaintances.

We would like to say a big thanks to Nick from the Frome Motorcycle Club and his team for being so welcoming as well as Kevin Spencer of the British Evo Series who has been such a helpful host and great help throughout the two weekends.

Also massive thanks to our distributors Madison and Rapid for supporting this weekend alongside Thor, Bel-Ray, Torc1 and Risk Racing as well as our friends at Freestyle Extreme and Print Shop Express.  Also all of the members of Team DS who sent in their good luck messages.

MXGP Treatment comp winners weekend - Take 1!

Well our 2014 MXGP Treatment competition winners weekend didn't go quite to plan although our winner Martin Foster and our team still had a great weekend and it all means we get to do it all over again.

This our worthy winner was 45 year old Martin who races in EVO meetings aboard his immaculate 1989 YZ125.  His email entry won us over explaining how he rocks up at meetings with his car, his bike on a trailer with his chief mechanic and friend from College Steve in tow. Yep old Skool.

The weekend kicked off for Martin with a suprise email containing good luck messages from DS racers and riders from all sports including legendary 3 X World MX Champion Dave Thorpe and current British MXGP star Tommy Searle.  (click the link on the side to view the vid)

The race meeting he was competing in was the 6th round of the British Evo Series at the Ham Lane track near Petersfield in Hampshire and by the time Martin had turned up the Duck Truck and DS set up was in place with dinner on the go.

Before the evening was out our winner was presented by a pimped up Thor race kit courtesy of our distibutors Madison with the printing done by our friends at Freestyle Extreme.

The Duck Truck was a bit of a squeeze but we all hit the bunks from there ready for a day of battle the next morning.    With the sun out, mechanic Steve was hooked up with a trick one off Pit board, (again thanks to our buddies at Freestyle Extreme and James at Print Shop Express), and the bike was prepped and lubed thanks to products supplied by Bel-Ray & Rapid Distribution.

All we thought was set to be an epic day as we headed down the track to watch Martin cruise round the track for his practice laps.  That was when the aforementioned YZ125 decided it was gonna have none of it and half way round lap 1 it stuttered to a halt, never to start again for the rest of the day.  Hours of frantic efforts to get the old girl back in the game were to no avail & with afternoon tea served up by our butler it was time to call it a day but not before Martin was given further goodies from Mark at Rapid Distribution in Torc1 grips, Bel-Ray lube and Risk Racing palm protectors on top of a large stash of DS cleaning goodies to keep the stubborn ol YZ gleaming.

So no video highlights package this time we are afraid but never fear we couldn't let Martin go without a full weekend of GP treatment so we will try again in a few weeks time and report back then.

A massive thanks to our distributors Madison and Rapid for supporting this weekend alongside Thor, Bel-Ray, Torc1 and Risk Racing as well as our friends at Freestyle Extreme and Print Shop Express.  Also all of the members of Team DS who sent in their good luck messages.

THE MOTORCYCLE CLEAN, PREEN & SHEEN POWER TEAM!

Its's been a long time coming but our famous duo of our Foaming Earth Mover Bike Cleaner and the versatile Detailer/Polish/drywash Smart n Ezee have been paired together in our latest combo offer.

This couple go back a long way, even before the times of Mud Slider and work awesome as a Wash, polish & protect combination, and like our other offers they are going out together with a Micro Fibre cloth for just £16 inc Postage and Packaging.

This duo is awesome for Road Motorcycles but does the trick on Offroaders too.

Start off by rinsing off any loose dirt and grime with clean water, a brush or sponge. Then apply a bit of Earth Mover foaming power by spraying the purple stuff onto your bike using the unique foaming nozzle. Use a damp clean sponge to agitate any further dirty areas and foam the whole machine getting into all of the tricky areas, over spokes......... (Earth Mover contains Aluminium Brighteners so great on wheels and any other metallic surfaces, bringing them back to new within 3 or 4 cleans) The foamier the better as this gives the Earth Mover a better contact time with the dirt, breaking it down in front of your very eyes. Next up rinse the bike with water again.

Now its time to bring out the Smart N Ezee. Lightly spray the product over the area you want to Polish/detail and rub it in with a Micro Fibre cloth. Don't get too heavy handed though as you won't need too much to bring out an awesome natural shine on your bike. As well as shining up your bike it also leaves a water repelling protective coat which means your bike is not only protected from the elements but will also be easier to clean next time round.

Smart N Ezee can also be used as a dry wash if your bike isnt that dirty, and as before its as simple as spray on and wipe over with a Micro Fibre cloth. In fact Smart N Ezee does so much shizzle I could be here all day listing all what it does but here's a few suggestions for starters.

Its great for cleaning your Helmet, or as a water repelling Visor clean, superb for Matt black finishes, stainless steel, titanium, carbon fibre, dashboards, showers, chrome, mirrors and especially on windscreens as any rain water beads off.

So get your hands on this tidy little offer as it is only available for a limited time!

2014 4X Pro Tour Round1 Race Report from Team DS's Lewis Lacey!

We are proud to work closely with all of our sponsored and supported racers, riders and drivers and get to know them really well.  Lewis was one of our early members of Team DS but last year was hit by injuries which pretty much took him out of action for the year.  It has been a tough ride back to fitness for Lewis but has shown how determined and talented he is with two awesome results in as many weeks starting with a 2nd in the British 4X round at Afan and then last week an amazing podium spot at the 4x Pro Tour.

Here's his race report.  Also give him a follow on twitter @lewislacey

Round 1 - 4X pro tour.
Sunny meadow Poland
It’s been a long year since I was last here, and I broke the end of the plate that was in my shoulder in the first turn. As ever always amazed with how rad the track looks. This year the guys put a monster jump at the end of the last straight.
Went up for a track walk, to see what was what and to see where it all went wrong for me last year, Built the bikes, time for a play. I wanted to have some fun, then on to the more serious stuff later (lines and all that shit)
Feeling fine and chilled, riding and track speed all good (could always do with a bit more) on to XXL schnitzel that’s why we come to Poland.
Saturday,
Qualifying relaxed and feeling fine, maybe a bit too relaxed as I cruised my run I was gutted with myself, but turned out I qualified 8th
A lot better than I thought, knowing I had a bit more in the tank was nice.
Rd1 there was only three of us on the gate these ones feel a bit unkind when only on person goes out, on to the next one.
Rd2 made a good gate the first straight seemed to feel effortless and a smooth run down saw me take the first spot.
Rd3 now things were heating up, with Slavik and Nate dogg on the gate I knew I needed to make a good start, gate dropped best start so far finding myself level with Slavik over the first two jumps following him closely in to turn one chasing him down making sure I could keep that 2nd spot from Nate dogg.
Rd4 it’s getting harder every time Slavik and Beaumont again we all gated together super tight first straight as I just squeezed Beaumont into turn one it was again chasing Slavik down making sure Beaumont stayed behind, I was clear second in the semi making my first Pro tour main final.
Final Slavik Prokop Slavik Lacey it goes without saying what this race was going to be, I took gate 3 (wanting 4) Prokop 4 as the Slavik’s lined up on the inside got a good snap all banging bars down first straight it was tight. After getting a bit of a slap from Prokop sending me slightly sideways into turn one leaving Thomas and Prokop to lead in 1 and 2 me in 3rd not knowing where Hannes was, bang he hit me right in the same spot as it all went wrong last year, taking my front wheel, causing me to almost hit the fence. That was it my final was over, I was never going to pull those power houses back. I sat down and took fourth place well happy with the night looking forward to round 2 Fortbill, love that first straight.
Props to the boy Master Lucas Cryer.

All of our Bike and Car Cleaners Made in Britain & proud of it!

We have been featured in this months Bike Biz magazine which focusses on those brands that are "Made in Britain".  We are very proud that this is the case for us, and in fact we do pretty much everything in house from bottling, labelling, mixing, and creating all of our own products, which also means we have the flexibility to always be growing our product range to fit the needs of all you challenging bunch of dudes, and the extreme conditions you throw yourself and your wheels through.

Here's the full article, which may also enlighten you more about us and how we roll!

Duck Smart, Made in Britain and Proud of it!

Duck Smart is a relatively new company in terms of cleaning products for the cycle market, but as a team they have been manufacturing and creating their own products for the commercial sector for over twenty years.

Through the companies owner Gary Bennett, and chief Chemist Graham Wood, for the Duck Smart range of products they have diverted away from their commercial roots and created a range of PH Neutral, foaming, non caustic cleaners which has certainly got the industry talking both for the effectiveness of the products, and the sweet smells used in them. On top of all of this they proudly stake claim to the fact that all of their products are manufactured in the UK at their headquarters in Benfleet in Essex by themselves.

Gary tells us more “For us its a natural thing for us to create all of our products in house as that is what we have always done. As well as this, we purchase all of the other materials, like boxes, bottles and labels all from local suppliers within a 20 mile radius, in fact quite a lot of what we use is bought using the other companies on the Trading Estate where we are based”.

“Because we manufacture everything ourselves it means that we can play around with colors, smells, different types of products, and raw materials so we can continually develop and improve our range. We have 3 or 4 new products pretty much ready to be launched and another 3 we are working on now. We like to always work with our teams, riders and dealers when we develop new products, so that we get honest feedback from all types of people and then we amend the products from there. Making everything in house means this process is a lot quicker and easier than outsourcing it, and also most outsourced products are ready made formulas with just a few things changed. I suppose some of our disadvantages are also our advantages in some respects. Graham our chemist likes everything to be perfect and more importantly safe for both the consumer and the bike, and as much as we can environmentally friendly, but this also means that our products contain more raw materials and elements to them. For instance our Foaming Earth Mover Bike Cleaner is a truly unique product which took two years to develop, and is made up of Softeners and detergents and contains 10 raw materials so this means it is more expensive to produce than the more common Hard surface cleaner based products which can be sourced from outside of the UK and can be watered down and very cheap. So I suppose our disadvantage is cost, but that is also an advantage to our customers who receive a product that they know they can trust on their bike and components, and has been thoroughly tested by experts in the UK. Again some of the bottles and containers we used could be purchased from abroad for cheaper but we have always work well with our current provider who sell us bottles made from recycled plastics so it is something we would not like to compromise on if we can help it. Being local they also help us out with smaller quantities if we are running short so it means our turn around is a lot quicker and means less space is taken with storage as if you purchased abroad you have to buy larger quantities”.

The innovative team at Duck Smart are always working hard to develop the next range of cleaners and with much of their Marketing being based around wash bays and letting people try their products. With their hands on, friendly approach we are sure you will be finding out about their products for yourself very soon, all of which are proudly stamped with Made in Britain on them.
